Jodie Sweetin, beloved for her role as Stephanie Tanner on "Full House," recently delighted her Instagram followers by recreating one of the sitcom's most memorable scenes. Thirty-three years after the original airing, Sweetin performed the "Motownphilly" dance number from the 1991 episode "Gotta Dance."
Now 42, Sweetin teamed up with Mitchell Gerrard Johnson to perform the routine, donning an outfit reminiscent of her original costume—a black ruffled skirt, matching crop top, and jacket. The caption of her post playfully noted, "How rude of us not to have done this sooner!"
"Full House," which ran from 1987 to 1995, left an indelible mark on television history, and Sweetin later returned to her roots in the Netflix sequel series "Fuller House," which concluded in 2020 after five seasons.
The dance holds a special place in Sweetin's heart, as she revealed in a 2018 interview with Today. She explained that the background dancers were her real-life dance classmates and the choreography was done by her dance teacher. "It was really fun 'cause they would get to come in for the week and I'd get to see all my little dance friends," Sweetin shared.
Additionally, Sweetin and her co-star Andrea Barber relive their "Full House" days through their podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos!, a re-watch series of the original show.
Sweetin has maintained strong bonds with her castmates and their families, emphasizing the close-knit nature of the "Full House" and "Fuller House" teams. "Our moms were close, our kids were close," Sweetin reflected, underscoring the deep connections that extended beyond the set to include the families of all involved.
