At a recent Colorado State Fair concert in Pueblo, Colorado, Scotty McCreery responded right away to an unsettling situation in the audience. The former American Idol champion and country music artist stopped his performance on Saturday, August 24, when he saw a guy reportedly rape a lady in the crowd.
Attendee Jessica Rosario recorded the scene on camera. Rosario claims that when McCreery saw the fight, he was about to play "It Matters To Her," which he mentioned was his wife Gabi Dugal's favorite song. Quickly responding, McCreery identified the suspected attacker, alerted security, and demanded that they leave the location.
McCreery can be heard saying, "Right here, that's a lady you just hit, sir," in the video. "Definitely not, you just struck the woman." Officers? Safety? Is she alright? Leave this place immediately.
As McCreery began to address the audience, "On God's green earth," it was evident that he was adamantly opposed to the violence. When Scotty McCreery performs? How are you spending your time? He checked on his supporters' well-being and reiterated his disdain of the aggressive behavior before continuing the event after making sure the authorities were notified and the issue was under control.
The incident was verified by Olga Robak, the Colorado Department of Agriculture's director of communications. She noted that fair security handled the issue with swift crowd control measures. No other information has been released, and the situation is still being investigated.
