The makeup line is a glittery and glam work of art that everyone—her mother included, along with the critics and the consumers—has flipped for and is currently clobbering Rare Beauty in any metric game on Instagram.


Fair enough, she may not be totally underdog-ish—she has one Oscar nomination, two Grammys, and half a billion followers on social media—but trading papers is hardly likely to call her a bona fide "beauty mogul."


This is all credit to R.E.M. To rise and soar so high in such a little period is commendable, and it does offer a couple of amazing lessons for anyone to keep in mind when drawing up celebrity strategies for the brand in the not-so-distant future.


Consumers of beauty products are less cynical than it seems, really. The nasty tie-ins and red-carpet product placements brought the thing, but tying the R.E.M. exposure to the deadline and not one infinite pressure was the kicker.


Social media is all-important for income generation but will give no one a jet pack into customers. Even though it were busier than Rare on all metrics of social interaction, it would even do worse than Rare Beauty in not registering a top performance in revenues from social engagement metrics. Selena Gomez says, "Slow down," for besides that, they can sell distribution partners, strategic ad spends, and alignment in products to a much greater extent than the recording of TikTok'd fans."


This may withstand the full blast of a spy movie, but for the moment, this is good: the spy-esque advertisement. The new facial ambassador for OGX beauty, Shay Mitchell, has been starring in a series of videos in which she acts with utmost energy in handing over the Bond Protein Repair spray as though she were stealing it off from a secret nuclear code just like in the James Bond style.


Coach sells it to you as for men. Coach for Men, that's the perfume name, comes in a strong and heavy obsidian bottle with leathery notes of cardamom, and Jayson Tatum, basketball star, is in ads.
